Senior Box Success

By Jeremy Swiger
It was the start of a busy seven days on Saturday with the packing of 696 CSFP boxes, to be sent out to local senior citizens. In the coming months we look to add to our waiting list so that more seniors may receive this box of neccessities. With the help of more then twenty volunteers, including many families and a considerable effort from the York Jaycees, we were able to pack all of the boxes, sort donated foods, and clean up around the food bank in 3 hours. Because of their hard work we are now well prepared for the rest of this week.

These volunteers are vital to the important work of the York County Food Bank. Without the help of the community, we would not have food to provide for the families, nor means of getting food from the donor to the family who needs it. On Tuesday the 23rd and Wednesday the 24th, we will be at the York Fairgrounds at the AWI Food Show. We are still looking for volunteers. For more information email jeremys@yorkfoodbank.org. If you are over 60 and need help, or know someone that qualifies, please contact the York County Food Bank at 717-846-6435 ext 102 for more information.
