Now in it's second year, the Fed's Feed Families Food Drive is well under way. As part of President Obama's "United We Serve" campaign, the food drive asks federal government offices to hold food drives to benefit their local food agencies. Last year, this program was successful in gathering 1.7 million pounds across the country. This year they are trying to break the two million pounds mark.
Working on the ground level of this campaign is the USDA Farm Services office in York. They are leading the charge, working with other federal offices, and teaming up with local farmers to generate a variety of both fresh and non perishable food items to help those in need across York County. The food drive will be running from not until August 31st. Not a federal employee, but want to get involved? Contact jeremys@yorkfoodbank.org or call 717-846-6435 ext 104 to find out what you can do in your own neighborhood. Together we can help feed local people, with local donations, and end hunger within York County.
