Fourth of July at the York Fairgrounds

The air was warm, but not to the point of hot. The smell of Bricker's fries and funnel cakes filled the air as we walked the York Fairgrounds this past Monday. The beautiful music wafting from the grand stand was enough to warm anyone's heart and make them just a little more patriotic. If that wasn't enough to warm your heart, the response to the York County Food Bank's presence at the fairgrounds would be.
Families lugging coolers, lawn chairs, and light toys also brought food donations to benefit those less fortunate then themselves. Many who forgot the food they wanted to bring offered monetary donations. We were lucky enough to have several volunteers out amongst the people, helping them bring their donations to the waiting food bank van. We were lucky enough to receive several boxes of food and over $1200 in donations.
We would like to thank the Cultural Alliance of York who pulled the event together, and Columbia Gas who sponsored the event for the community.
