York County Food Bank Introduces New Internship Opportunities

By Jeremy Swiger
The York County Food Bank has made many recent upgrades to help the effectiveness and efficiency of our food bank to continue to increase. We now have better ways to track what foods we have, where it is going, and who is receiving it once it reaches it's destination. In the spirit of all these changes we have decided to open up our doors to a variety of internship opportunities. Starting with two different positions this Spring, other opportunities will be presented to allow a variety of professional minded students to get a leg up in their college education, while still making our county a better place to live.
We are currently looking for two interns, a mass communications intern and a business intern:
- The Mass Communications Intern will be asked to complete a new informational DVD about the York County Food Bank; it's history, the programs we engage in, and how the food bank operates.
- The Business Intern will be asked to complete a gap study that takes a look at how efficiently we are able to help those in need in our county, and how that compares to other local food banks.
We recognize that interns are the employees are the future, and we work to provide real world job experience, not just meaningless busy work. We want to prepare these future employees for what they are to expect in the field, and maybe provide them with jobs in the future. The first step is to offer them they keys to their success.
