Osterberg Chiropractic Centre Gives Back

Empty Bellies Sore Backs Campaign Greeted with Success

By Jeremy Swiger

During the month of December the medical team of the Osterberg Chiropractic Centre, a family owned business operated by Frederick and Eric Osterberg, offered to do what they do best for a good cause. The doctors offered patients at both their Shiloh area and Red Lion office a $39 treatment that included a one hour massage, chiropractic exam, and chiropractic treatment.  All proceeds from  this offer went to the York County Food Bank.  They were also kind enough to hold a food drive throughout the month that with great success. The food drive and fundraiser went exceptionally well, and by the end of the month the results were in as to just how successful the doctors had been. They managed to raise over $1700 and 205 pounds of food. When asked about their donation, Eric Osterberg responded, "We looked at a lot of different non-profits. York County Food Bank seemed to be a good fit."

The donations from the event will go toward feeding those in need across York County. The York County Food Bank engages in a number of programs, such as the Backpack Program and the Senior Box Program. The Backpack Program offers local students in need a backpack full of food. Many of these students receive only one meal a day that is provided by the school, and rely on the Backpack Program for all other nourishment. When the student's backpack runs out of food at the end of the week, it is returned and refilled for the upcoming week. The Senior Box Program offers boxes  filled with basic necessities to local senior citizens. These boxes are distributed once a month, and provide supplemental food for many local seniors who are living off of social security alone. The York County Food Bank also distributes to over 20,000 families through their network of over 130 distribution partners. Last year the food bank put over 3 million pounds of food back into York County. This success would never have been possible without the help of community members like Osterberg Chiropractic Centre.
